back to my christian louboutin obsession - wouldn't this be a nice way to represent the "something blue" on the wedding day?

DIY wedding details!
as we move along in the planning process, its becoming more and more clear why there is a show called "platinum wedddings" - things can get REALLY expensive!
in light of this fun fact, i am constantly in search of do-it-yourself projects that can pull together the little pieces of your wedding that will make the final product really special.
here are some cool sites and ideas i've found so far:
wedding channel
"i-do"-it-yourself
there are so many unique ideas out there that will help pull your day together in every aspect. some ideas i've been working on are table numbers and placecards. since our wedding is a new england beach theme, my parents really want to use beach stones as our "placecards", which could be really cool but i am afraid after painting names/numbers on the first 30 or so stones, the idea might be regretted :) - so, we'll see how that goes. for table numbers, pat and i thought it could be fun to have our favorite beaches or places as tables along with the numbers. check out this idea from weddingchannel.com below:
with so many ideas out there it's hard to narrow things down to which we want to use for ours, but it's still fun to check everything out as an inspiration to what we finally go with.

good tunes
Turn Your Lights Down Low
Bob Marley & Lauryn Hill
“Loving you is a like a song I replay
Every 3 minutes and 30 seconds of every day
And every chorus was written for us to recite
Every beautiful melody of devotion every night
It’s potion like this ocean that might carry me
In a wave of emotion to ask you to marry me
And every word, every second, and every third
Expresses the happiness more clearly than ever heard
And when I play them, every chord is a poem
Telling the Lord how grateful I am cause I know him
The harmonies possess a sensation similar to your caress
If you asking then I’m telling you it’s yes
Stand in love, take my hand in love,
God bless”

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
well so much for the kleinfeld visit! 2 days in to my east coast trip, we were hit by the first blizzard of the year - 2 feet of snow in some areas! here's my view of new york city from my hotel room in hoboken:
after a flurry of phone calls to my mom, future mother-in-law, and maid-of-honor, we decided it'd be best to post-pone the visit based on the amount of snow we were expecting. lucky for me, kleinfeld actually called me to cancel and i was able to reschedule for january 2010 when i'm back for a meeting in NJ.
until then, i will continue to enjoy the holiday sweets and treats and once january 2 comes around, i'll get back to "operation wedding dress".

say yes to the dress....
after months of trying, i was able to finally get an appointment at Kleinfeld in New York City! for those of you who don't know, Kleinfeld is a bridal shop in Manhattan which supposedly has the largest inventory in the world. hopefully their inventory meets my budget too :)
Kleinfeld is also where the TLC bridal reality show, Say Yes to the Dress, is filmed. i am hoping the video crews aren't there when i am, but it's still pretty exciting to be shopping there and seeing all of the consultants from the show.
now that the dress search is officially on, the time to hit the gym has never been more necessary - holiday sweets are taking a toll on my dress size!!

another cousin off the market!
this is the year of engagements and weddings in the Page family! congrats to caits and james, who just got engaged on saturday night - let the planning begin! :)

holiday sweets
are one of the reasons i love this time of year so much! my waistband on my jeans isn't as much of a fan, but with such a short holiday season, nothing a little running won't get rid of in the end.
here's a fun sweet and salty snack which has become a favorite of family and friends during the holidays.
Pretzelies
Note - you do not have to use each kind of hershey kisses, but those are the kind i recommend - dont use regular whole chocolate kisses though, because they will burn. Hugs are what you see in the picture.
1 bag of Snyders pretzel snaps (the square grid pretzels)
1 bag (or more) of hershey kiss hugs, caramel filled kisses and/or peanut butter filled kisses
1 medium bag of holiday colored M&Ms
wax paper
1. preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. put a layer of wax paper over a cookie sheet (or 2 sheets)
3. spread the pretzel snaps out over the wax paper, placing evenly side by side
4. unwrap hersey kisses/hugs and place 1 on top of each pretzel
5. put in the oven for about a minute or 2, the caramel ones take longer and peanut butter ones take less time
6. once starting to melt, take tray out of oven and press one M&M on top of each kiss/hug
7. place tray in fridge or freezer until cool
8. serve and enjoy!
i make this with pat's nieces and nephews and they always look forward to it because everyone can have a "job" and they are very easy to do.
happy holidays!
