Rustic & Traditional Black Tie Affair: Lauren & Sal {Scobey Photography}

(c) Scobey Photography

Today is a bit of a different Monday, as you won't find a Floral Spotlight {they will resume next week!}, but rather, a part two of my guest post for Delightfully Engaged on MyWedding.com*, featuring Lauren and Sal's rustic, black tie wedding from Scobey Photography.  To get caught up to speed on where we started off, head on over to Delightfully Engaged for Part I of this wedding (and say hello!)

On a sunny and clear September day, Lauren and Sal said "I do", and while I know I tend to interject quite a bit in my real wedding posts, these images really just tell the story themselves.  The Scobeys can just do that with their photography and I want to let you soak it all in.

Congratulations Lauren and Sal - thank you for sharing your day with us here and over on Delightfully Engaged!  {Click here to read part I}

A Lovely Little Shower: Jasmine & Sean

No, this isn't a styled shoot.... this is a real shower for one of my favorite blogger ladies, Jasmine over at Jasmine and Sean .   Jasmine's family went all out for her recent shower and I just had to share it with you all on this lovely Sunday afternoon.  {Yes, we still had a Mason Jar today and you can see it here.}

Back to this amazing shower.... check out the lovely details Jasmine's family included in her special afternoon!  All images belong to Jasmine, please do not repurpose without her permission!

Starting with the invites...

Which they carried out through the details using the tissue poms...

And in to a sweets display...

With the cutest tuxedo chocolate-covered strawberries...

And the pink and white barber straws, which I love...

For the champagne punch, of course!

They even used a pink couch cover!

And everyone went home with a sweet godiva chocolate favor...

The pretty bride-to-be, Jasmine:

The happy couple (groom-to-be Sean joined at the end of the party)

I am just loving all of the details that went in to this special day!  For more pretty pictures, go pay Jasmine's blog a visit!

Featured on The Blue Envelope!

When Amanda of The Blue Envelope reached out to me to say hello, I was so happy to have found another kindred spirit in this world who shares my love of mason jars and all things lovely!  Amanda is the amazing creator of these ridiculously amazing invites and save the dates, all centered around mason jars with a burlap accent.  {You might recognize these beauties because just a few weeks back, the amazingly-talented Kristi of Luna and Chloe Weddings featured them on her gorgeous blog!}

Amanda was so kind as to feature us on her lovely blog, and I can't thank her enough for the shout-out.  Stay tuned for a full mason jar feature very soon, with some amazing pics from her wedding, too :)  Make sure to pop on by her blog to say hello!

Happy weekend everyone!

Bon Voyage, Annie! {a little virtual send-off}

As many of you may know, our beloved Annie of Marry You Me is headed off on a flight as we speak to move to London for the next few months with her hubby as they embark on a semester abroad!

So in true blogger fashion, we threw together a little Bon Voyage card for her to give her our well wishes for her new adventure :)

Best of luck Annie, we'll miss you!!

{Speaking of Annie, I am guest posting on Marry You Me today!  Go take a look at a little London inspiration board and map I made for her over here.}

Happy Friday, everyone!

Bloggers {Unveiled}: Cathleya Schroeckenstein from WeddingBee!

Today's Bloggers {Unveiled} post features none other than Cathleya Schroeckenstein, editor-in-chief of WeddingBee.com!  If you're new to the series, go here to learn more. Here's Cathy!

{Unveiled} Questions:

How did you get started in the wedding world?
I started planning my own wedding in 2008 and fell into the world of blogging when I noticed that several brides in my area had their own wedding blogs. A friend of mine was blogging for Weddingbee and I loved the bride-to-bride sharing spirit that Weddingbee provided. I blogged for a bit on my own wedding blog and eventually applied to be a blogger for the site. It became nothing short of an obsession of mine, and the site’s founder and publisher, Bee Kim, eventually asked me if I’d like to work with her as an editor. I eventually quit my previous job to come on full time as the site’s Editor in Chief a few months after my wedding and have been here ever since!

What is your makeup staple?
I work at home so I keep it pretty minimal on the weekdays. On the weekends and when I go out I really like to have a full face of makeup, because I spend so many days makeup-less! My routine “done up” face includes MAC Studio Moisture Tint topped with Bare Escentuals Tinted Mineral Veil. I can’t live without MAC Liquid Eyeliner and MAC Tinted Lipglass in Viva Glam VI (SO many people ask me what lip gloss I’m wearing when I have it on!). And there is no mascara holier than Diorshow Iconic. None! Full disclosure: I live 2 blocks from a MAC store which explains why about 80% of my makeup comes from there.

What is one thing that others don't know about you?
This is a really hard question...I try my best to be an open book, online and off. I guess people would be surprised to know that despite being a pretty chatty and social person, I thrive in isolation. My husband is always surprised that despite the fact that I spend most days alone without social interaction, I don’t really crave it. When he comes home at night it’s not as if I feel like chatting his head off. Even though I’d be happy as a clam to go out every day and socialize, I could stay at home for days on end and not speak to another human and be totally content. I’m an only child---to the extreme!

What is one piece of advice you would give to others trying to get started with their own business?
Don’t be afraid to find ways to interact with business people in your industry that you admire or that you’d ideally want to be associated with. Social media has opened up incredible avenues for people to interact with each other on a micro-level. It’s hard to get someone who you’d like to associate with or ask advice of to sit down for a coffee or a lunch---that takes a good chunk of time out of someone’s busy day. But to interact daily with someone via Facebook or Twitter, getting tidbits of advice and networking in that manner---showing people what you’re capable of and what you’re willing to do has found people a lot of success. Be present, and be persistent!

What is your favorite part about weddings?
I love the parts that really make you cry. My favorite weddings have been the ones that really make you just burst into tears of joy. It most often happens during the ceremony, if a couple has written personal vows, but many times it hits me when the father of the bride is giving his speech, beaming with pride, speaking to his daughter and her new husband. It hardly matters if I know the couple or not...weddings have a way of just making your heart swell with happy tears!

What is your hobby outside of blogging {is there life outside of blogging!}?
My husband and I love hiking and spending time with our dog, Billie! Cooking is probably my main hobby. I love cooking a great meal for friends, especially Thai food! Sadly we don’t have a dining table so my entertaining capacity is limited!

Thanks, Cathy!

A Virtual Recipe Shower for Claire!

As some of you may know, the lovely Claire of Realistic Wedding and Realistic Nutritionist is getting married this weekend {tomorrow, to be exact}!!!!  So exciting!  I have been following Claire's journey to the altar through her blog and twitter and it has been such a pleasure getting to know her - she truly is a sweetheart and I am so excited for her to say I-do to her very own sweetheart in just one more day!

isn't she the cutest thing ever? L Hewitt Photography

A few of us bloggers got together to throw Claire a little surprise Recipe shower, so I wanted to share it with you today - thank you Aleah and Annie for putting this together!

I'm sorry, you won't be viewing my lovely handwriting because, frankly, it's not so lovely and I wanted to be sure that Claire would be able to read it.  Unfortunately I am not one of those girls with cute handwriting, so I am doing everyone a favor by printing instead :)

And here is a special recipe for her - I was first introduced to this a while back by my friend Jodi and it is seriously always the hit of the party.  Some people don't even realize it's watermelon!

Congratulations you two - I couldn't be happier for you and am sending all of my love your way!!

As I mentioned, there are a few other bloggers participating in the fun today for Claire, go pay them a visit to see the other yummy recipes :)
